Redevelopment of Carrington Road, Marrickville
I have designed a mutually beneficial community space, where the built environment, such as residential spaces, coexist with its natural landscape to create a seamless flow of spatial harmony between various zones. The existing precinct lacks community engagement as it contains many historic industrial buildings with limited hospitality, green and recreational spaces. My space combats this through the implementation of business opportunities, private residences and public open spaces that aim to enable active community participation and interaction within the site. It also seeks to strengthen and enrich the community through the key principles of affordable housing, environmental sustainability and community outreach. Likewise, the development utilises the entire zoning of Carrington Road to strategically urban plan the study, residential, green (parks), hospitality, recreation and housing spaces. It also takes into consideration the exterior environment that may impact the space's success, such as noise transmitted from the railway that may disturb users.
