Malaysian Cookbook for Young Adults
Culture is an important part of people’s lives and influences views, values, loyalties, attitudes and sense of identity. Here in Australia, we are lucky to have people of different cultures living in one place. However, cultural assimilation is common among younger generations, consequently causing young people to lose touch with their cultural heritage. To explore this further, I surveyed my target market, males and females between the ages of sixteen and twenty-seven. Results showed that more than fifty per cent of participants feel detached from their culture. By producing a Malaysian cookbook, I hope my generation will be encouraged to dive deeper into their culture and keep their cultural heritage alive. This cookbook will include Malaysian food recipes and stories told by Malaysians of different ages. It will be featured on social media and have an accompanying Spotify playlist to cater to my target market.
