Marine Plastic Jewellery Awareness Campaign
Each year, over 300 million tons of plastic are produced and at least eight million tons end up in the ocean. Marine plastic can further break down into microplastic, where they enter our bodies through the consumption of seafood and drinking water. According to WWF, we consume about five grams of plastic every week, which is the equivalent weight of a credit card. The issue of marine plastic pollution inspired me to create a marine plastic awareness campaign. By creating a jewellery range made out of beach plastic waste and an accompanying social media campaign, I aim to raise awareness amongst young adults about the impact of marine plastic pollution on the environment and society, further motivating them to take action in plastic waste reduction.
