Redesigning Public Restrooms to Prevent the Spread of Germs and Viruses
For my Major Design Project, I have chosen to redesign public restrooms to help prevent the spread of germs and viruses. I chose to undertake this project because, during the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, all shopping centres had to close their restrooms. This made people feel uncomfortable when going to shopping centres. Even now, there has not been much change to the design of restrooms, even after opening back up. So, I was interested to see whether I could produce a design that would address this issue and potentially become a solution. I have been to many shopping centres to see the common issues and improvements that could be made. The restroom that I have designed provides a safe environment that allows the public to use it without having to worry about their safety. The design ensures people are not bunched together for their own safety and the safety of others.
