The Post-COVID Office
My project aims to meet business and employee needs post-COVID through redesigning an existing vacant office building to reflect practices in ergonomics and sustainability. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about change in the workplace environment on a global scale, with workers transitioning from their offices to off-site, socially-distanced online remote work. Having first-hand witnessed this, I was motivated to design an office environment that was not only covid-safe but also aimed at challenging preconceptions of how a typical office space looks by actively considering how the design of a physical environment could impact an individual’s mental wellbeing and productivity. The premise of my designs focuses on being covid-safe but also caters towards new-generation office workers whose expectations centre around having a work-life balance, thus making my designs applicable in the future of workplace design.
