The Re: imagined
The Re: imagined forms a connection between the audience, the artworks and nature through its visual ambiguity. Manipulating the process of cyanotype printing by introducing different materials such as cleaning agents, oxides and dirt, I have produced gestural prints and photographs that appear as abstracted topographical views of landscapes. The ambiguity of the prints allows the audience to connect with the work, holding power as they add their own meaning and imagine their own landscape.
Displaying both the cyanotype prints as well as photographs of the cyanotypes developing in the sun, I hope to emphasise the ever-changing nature of the cyanotype as it continues to develop and transform over time – a parallel with our ever-changing climate. The ambiguity and ephemerality evoked in the Re: imagined series allows the audience to contemplate the processes and systems that are impacting and changing our landscapes.
