Women in Islam
My artwork is about my experience of having an Islamic faith in this complex contemporary world. I wanted to show many different emotional layers and shells that make up my faith. My aim was to show the joys, happiness, pains and struggles of being a Muslim woman. I want my work to be seen as a celebration of various aspects of Muslim culture and show my own experiences of my faith throughout my life. To represent this, I created a series of three ceramic sculptures using porcelain, aiming to look like young faceless Muslim women and children.
